uilt in 1982 when the company needed more capacity, the Gentry Plant has helped McKee Foods serve the western United States and Mexico. The facility employs more than 1,500 people. The Gentry Plant is active in the community, supporting United Way and local schools through donations of time, money, and products.

Benton County, with about 150,000 people, is the fastest growing county in the United States. There are three large lakes and seven marinas within 50 miles of Gentry. Grand Lake has more shoreline than any other lake in the United States. Beaver Lake State Park, Devil’s Den State Park, the Ozark National Forest, and Withrow Spring State Park are close by.

For outdoor enthusiasts, excellent sport fishing is available just a few miles from the bakery at Swepco Lake. The water is a constant 90 degrees, and hybrid bass grow to massive sizes. Excellent trout fishing and canoeing are readily available in the many spring-fed streams and rivers.

The Benton County area has three theaters and performing arts centers and nine museums. The most popular are the Wal-Mart Visitors Center (home of Sam Walton’s first five-and-dime store in Bentonville near the company’s headquarters) and the Daisy BB air gun museum. The Northwest Arkansas Symphony and Northwest Arkansas Theatre are located in Bentonville, 23 miles away. The area hosts several arts and crafts fairs and summer concerts in a downtown park.
